I have to try not to open full stretch, cos my jaw does dislocate! On both sides, good if you want to do a snake impression, but otherwise deeply embarrassing!

Yawning is a biological signal by the brain to instruct the need for oxygen.Opening the mouth as wide as possible enables more oxygen to enter the body which is needed by the body .

A yawn is a semi-automatic reflex that originates in the brain stem in response to a lower level of oxygen in the brain. You open your mouth as wide as possible to replenish the amount of oxygen you need in your brain to function normally again (with little fatigue.)

There is another theory about yawning. The great apes yawn, but as a communal signal that all is well in the troupe and that it is safe to sleep. It is instigated by the alpha male, and others mimic - opening as wide as possible to be seen by the alpha. This is a feedback signal whereby the tribe communicate their safety. You cannot yawn if you are stressed or frightened. It is a sign of relaxation. We open wide as a vestigial signal of safety and yawn when another yawns as a reply.

The reason why you yawn is not to inhale more oxygen, but it's a pleasure reflex. When you yawn, you feel good. The reason why you open your mouth wide is because it's part of the reflex. If you prohibit your mouth from opening wide, it doesn't feel as good.

As your body lacks oxygen, the brain will stimulate your body to get in more oxygen. Thus, you yawns by getting as muxh exygen as you can and by doing this, you opens your mouth as widely as possible so as to get in more oxygen. It is just it is to yawn.

yeah that's possible we are yawning not because that we are sleepy or bored... we yawn because our body needs oxygen to
supply in our blood and body...so that as much as possible, we open our mouth widely so that more oxygen can enter in our body
