what is the difference between a social cast system & a social class system?

I am trying to find this for a sociology project. Please help!!

A caste society dictates your station in that society from birth to death. There is no getting away from it unless you leave that society and become part of another. And every law and custom in that society is geared to make certain you stay in your caste. Making gobs of money is almost impossible for those of lower caste. And intermarriage with a higher caste is a crime; often punishable by death.

A class society is almost as bad, but can be mitigated with money. Whatever your station at birth, in a class society if you work hard and get rich, you can move freely in the higher echelons of that society. you may even marry within it. Of course, unless those higher echelons are like you, self-made, you won't be truly acceptable to them, but they will be mostly polite: chilly but polite.

Social Caste - you never rise out of where your at...once a servant, born to a servant family...always a servant.
if you are wealthy and privledged - you can be a trashy piece of Sh!t and you'll still be superior.

Social class is dictated by work effort, opportunity, education and dedication.
You make money, you can rise out of poverty...if you don't learn from the lessons that got you to where you are...you'll slide right back to the trash you came from....like the rap singer Eminem or the pop singer Boy George.
