Idina Menzel (she's from RENT the movie and she was in Wicked on Broadway and she has a great voice)
Mariah Carey (of course)
Christina Aguilera (one of the most incredible voices ever)
Danity Kane (maybe not the best, but they can sing and have good R&B/Hip-hop songs)
Kristin Chenoweth (was also in Wicked on Broadway)
Jack Johnson (he has great songs and can sing)
Alanis Morisette (beautiful voice, and beautiful songs)
Gwen Stefani (she has a great voice and her songs are fun)
Jaci Velasquez (Christian singer, but she has a great voice)
Stacie Orrico (Christian again, but I love her voice and songs)
Utada [Hikaru] (Japanese singer, she also has one english album under the name "Utada". She has a great voice)

For me its something to do with the emotion conveyed
w/ the lyrics in a song And that title would go to John Lennon (listen to Instant Karma) and someone modern I would say Christina Agualara (sp?) new song. Ciara is really good.
