LOL

It was called this because it comes in a stick and is applied to the lips.

Most lipstick formulas now are long lasting and do stick to the lips without rubbing off on clothes or other body parts.

They are referring to the shape of the item in question. It is shaped like a stick, the name has nothing to do with its staying power. There are lipsticks out there though, that stay on longer than others.

'reason it follows an same common sense as asteroids. Why are they contained in the sky even as they might want to be on your ***? And why are hemmoroids on your *** even as they might want to be up contained in the hemisphere? Why do they call it lipstick even as it would not stick, and it consistently comes off? so that you need to purchase extra and stick it on again!

just taking a wild guess here. maybe because it is shaped like a stick and it goes on the lip, then again the world may never know.
about your point of coming off it should be called " lipstay"

tee hee... great pun!

Seriously, though, it probably has more to do with the shape of the product itself than the application of it.

P.S. The secret to keeping it off your teeth? After you apply it, make an O shape with your mouth and stick your finger in it. Any excess on the "inner rim" will come off on your finger, not your teeth.
