WIDE receiver Scott McCready has become the first non-kicking Englishman to reach the NFL after signing with the New England Patriots.

The 24-year-old Londoner has made history by being assigned to the practice squad of the Patriots. Previous English players in the NFL such as Jon Smith (New England 1974-83) and Mick Luckhurst (Atlanta Falcons 1981-87) have only held kicking positions.
