have to say i agree with Nora Explora...everyone is born with free will....but untill we reach the age of accountability...we're not accountable...and i think that age is different for each child...depending on their learning capabilities. Someone with downsyndrome for instance may not reach that age untill they are a teen ager....some may never really understand...

Of course and they express it too, very clearly each time you hurt them or they sense disrespect in you, and they do so through anger and a loud cry.

So it is very much important the parents listen close to the messages and signs that their baby is giving them intuitively. Otherwise they would end up teaching the young mind that it is ok to get bullied, infact the first bully, a bullied child faces is at their homes.

That is why it is so much important to respect a child's freewill no matter what age.

Very good question. In a word, yes. We have freedom of selection from the cradle to the crypt. But with a baby, that child has some degree of limitations, in that he/she cannot speak yet, cannot walk, etc.

This makes me think of yet another interesting topic- whether people are born sinful. Not trying to start a religious argument- just wondering why some innocent babies and young kids end up having cancer and suffering, or possibly losing their lives.

A newborn may have free will, but he doesn't realize it until he starts striving for autonomy.

No. They only have those biological drives that aid early survival. There is no such thing as "free will", only varying degrees of autonomy.
Some myths are so hard to let go of.

Yes. But without the abilty to use it, it is useless until the baby can express its free will.

They have feedback onto their own behavior, if that's what you mean. 'free will', as it is generally used in a dualistic fashion, makes no sense.
