I know people who are on it. Two out of three said it is wonderful. It works very well and amazingly fast. However, it does make them quite sleepy at first.

The other person said it really didn't do much for her.

Remember that everyone responds differently to any drug, even if 9 out 10 people respond one way to a drug...you could be the 1 person who responds differently or not at all.

Good luck to you.

My sister was first prescribed Lexapro and it worked on her for about 2 months. After that it jsut started not working. We're not sure if she needed a dose increase, but it just stopped working. She is now on Effexor. Which seems to be working now. But when she first went on Lexapro she slept alot (as many people are saying) But it does work. Those first few months were great, She wasnt depressed, and was quite chipper, when she was awake at least. Good Luck and stay positive, you'll get through it!

I am currently working as a psych nurse. We use lexapro a lot it's almost the number one drug used! I believe it works well without a lot of side effects. It does take awhile to get into your system and you should never miss a dose!

i took it for like 3 months, and at first, it made me cry, like all the time, over nothing, i was really sensitive, but then it all evened out, and i am fine now. i have not been truly depressed in over a year. i took prozac before that, and i do not recommend it, it made me feel numb to emotion, with lexapro, i felt like a real person again.

My mother was on it and it made her very tired and lethargic. The dr. said that was the #1 side effect of the drug based on his clinical experience.
