In a Texas election, there are about 5 people running for govenor of Texas. One Texas gubernatorial candidate, Kinky Friedman, says marijuana should be legalized as a way of keeping nonviolent drug users out of prison.

I heard about this story on the radio and since I'm from Texas, I'm attracted to this debate. I wanna know what you have to say about this. Both sides of this debate would help. If you think yes, why yes? If you think no, why not? Please explain. Thanks!

No not legalized..but De-criminalized
I have seen and read were people with fewer than 8 ounces are doing more time than a first time rapist. The courts, lawyers.cops and all the rest of the judicial leeches make too much money off these marijuana laws...which are more socially egregious than the crime itself.

A petition on my own does no longer do it. California has Petition and Initiative, which, i've got confidence, skill that sufficient people sign a petition, it has to flow directly to the pollfor the voters to vote on it. i do no longer think it is the regulation under the Texas shape. i've got confidence you will could get sufficient signatures that legislators might sponsor a bill, and then pass it interior the legislature, or deliver some style of constitutional modification to the voters. alongside the way there'd be great stress from the Feds (do no longer pass the bill or we will provide up sending you street funds, or some thing like that).

I think in some cases Yes. for medical purposes only. Ask any cancer victim or person with chronic pain it helps with the pain and of course the nausea. Texas is a tough place for something like this to come up. I certainly would not want to be in one of there prisons, as bad as Mexico I hear.

That's like saying the death penalty should be outlawed in Texas. It's silly; of course it shouldn't be legalized, unless it's strictly for medicinal purposes.
