No pill (or other single bc method) is 100% so statistically, yes, it is possible. However, the pap smear won't do anything to increase your chances of failure. It just collects cells from your cervix - nothing to do with ovulation or conception.
My guess is that the recommendation to not have intercourse just after a pap smear probably comes from the fact that you have a semi-open scrape and introducing bacteria to that area could, theoretically, cause an infection. However, the body is a wonderful thing and you normally make lots of things (acids, antibodies) to protect yourself from infection.

The only true form of birth control is abstinence. Even the birth control is only 99% accurate. There is always that chance that you could still get pregnant... though not often.
And I've never heard that rumor about not having intercourse after a pap. A pap smear means that they're only taking a small skin sample from your cervix to test if there is any abnormalities. It's not as though they're "opening the way" or anything of the sort. To be totally honest... it sounds like nothing more than a lie.
But yes, you could still get pregnant.

I've heard that you shouldn't have sex BEFORE a pap smear because it could interfeer with the results, but I've never heard about getting pregnant because of one. Probably not the best idea, good way to get an infection (the lining inside you was probably still a little scratched. If you've been taking birth control as directed, you should be alright.

Yes there is a possibility of getting pregnant depending on your ovulation cycle....If you were ovulating, then yeah BIG CHANCE! But if not, no! A pap doesn't increase or decrease your chance of getting pregnant.....That's some retarded advice! The reason why its not always recommended to have sex after a pap is b/c it can be uncomfortable and depending on how mch the doctor actually scrapes out.....It can be messy. Sometimes if the doctor scrapes too much, you might have an open scrape and to open it more is just....ack! That and depending on your partner his secretions could iritate the scrape or infect it depending on his current health issues......I think you'll be fine as long as you weren't ovulating.

Well as long as you have been on Ortho for a month you should be o.k. I have never heard anything about getting pregnant after having a pap. And I'm in med school. The Dr. does slightly open your cervix to examine it but it closes up immediatly after. I think you should be fine.

Check with a doctor, but, if ortho low is a birth control you should be o.k., but if not then maybe. You should use a condom anyway unless your married, there is always a chance of std's and what's to say your guy is fooling around on you. I guess you love the guy but just remeber every time you have sex without a condom your rsking your life.
