My desktop search is always telling me that the file I'm looking for is not accessable or is corrupt. Some things are missing from my programs. It's like some big secert being hid from me. Any suggestions on how I find out what all this is and how I can get rid of it?

If you are using windows XP
Go to control panel > System > Remote.
Uncheck the Remote assistance box.
click Apply
click OK.

Remove(uncheck) any suspicious entries from Exceptions in firewall.
If it is needed , windows will ask your permission again to allow it.

Download and install windows defender software, if you do not already have one, form the following link. It is a firewall+antispyware+software explorer.
It will tell you what programs belong to which companies, and if they are suspicious or not. And allows you to block or remove them. And unblock, or allow them again if you choose to.
