But seriously - go to the microsoft site and download windows Defender and run it. Once that's done get rid of your exixting anti-virus software and go to the Avast site and download theirs. Run that.
That should do the trick.

Disinfect? You cleaning ladies sure that you are allowed to clean the computers? Have you sorted out all the corridors and stairs? There are free downloads available to help firewall etc - ask Google or some other search engine for free safety downloads. You can also fre up space on your hard disc by "defrag"ing it - harder to explain - perhaps some other clever chap will do so for you

Get the google pack for free. you get Norton Anti virus and ad-aware and a host of other bits and bobs in one download. The download itself is only for windows XP, but the page below lists all the packages and you can download them individually from the software suppliers main site, also for free.

why do you want to disinfect your computer did you let someone sick use it? they sell Clorox wipes you could wipe it down regularly.
If what your asking for is preventive maintenance tips you could remove cookies,temp files and history regularly, install and scan for spy-ware regularly and check and defragment as needed

download CCleaner...its free and brilliant. Use it daily and your PC will be slick and fast. ...like mine. Also go to http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/getstarted/speed.mspx and follow the instructions...easy. Do this every 4 weeks and you will be amazed at the difference.
