I agree with you to a point. Remember that most people who are "celebrity obssesed" are that way because they see the celebrity all the time. As often as they would see a co-worker or family member. So, they feel like they know the celeb and as a result will react to a tragedy accordingly.

Having said that...this society spends WAAAAAYYYY too much time on celeb gossip, etc. When the Cruise baby or the Smith death can knock things of critical importance off the front page or top of a newscast...we really need to step back and take a look at our priorities.

I think that is kind of a messed up question.......I feel bad for Anna Nicole but I feel worse for all the families that have lost a son, father, daughter, mother and so on in this war. I think that it time for it all to end though it doesn't look as if that is happening any time soon.........

Death is death, and it's all tragic. And even if you don't like Anna Nicole Smith, it doesn't mean her son deserved to die. You can feel sorry for her as a mother without condoning her craziness, just like you can mourn dead soldiers without condoning the war.

First of all, I'm sick of hearing about people dying in Iraq...especially if they're not our people. I don't care if a Joe Blow on the street gets killed. Not my problem.

We are celebrity obsessed because half of us wish we could have that lifestyle (and don't tell me you don't because who wouldn't want to have the money and the fame?)
