Hi. I'm in MS. I would say now is a great time to plant the pecan trees. Your trees will have a couple of months to get established before cooler weather sets in. That means they will be that much more ahead of the ones planted next February (the usual time trees are planted in Spring).

Fall, I'd say. Fall is the best time to plant any tree or shrub in the south. Unfortunately, most garden centers don't carry a large inventory in the fall.
