Sounds like a newbie computer user, I know. I am writing a story, and some poetry and I am not sure how to save them properly. I am guessing a re-writable cd because I will be saving a work in progress each time. (I do not have a floppy disc drive only cd/dvd).
Any idea how many pages (msword) a disc will hold?
I have several pages so far and I'd hate to lose them. I do have a hard copy but it seems like a waste to print it out evry time I add a bit.
Much appreciated,
Thanks.

A CD has 700MB....a typical word file about 100kb. 1024kb is 1MB. 1CD can hold entire novels, better buy a USB flash memory. A CD can be written max 2 times.

USB storage device definitely.

Every computer running XP or later accepts them, you can buy them to suit your budget and anything over 1GB should keep you happy for a while, especially if you're typing in just word documents.

The main benefit of using USB as a writer is that you can plug in the stick and work on the same file directly, without saving duplicate copies all over the disk, and your hard drive too. One copy of each file, that's it.

If you have an idea about how your work has progressed and want to compare versions, use the 'Save as' command, dating different versions so you can pull them apart and edit like crazy.

A cd holds more than 700 mb of data
This is equivalent to 700 000 kb of data
Normally a normal page in Ms word will be around 11 -15 kb
Hence u can write and store more than 60000 pages

Buy a flash memory card. It is small and easy to carry and it is much faster than burning the files on CD.
