You got me there. Here in Detroit we have some pretty decent authentic Mexicano joints. I know of what I speak coming from a Mexican family.

We have some darned good ones here in Texas, it's true! Many people enjoy making their own for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holidays, so there are a lot to choose from. When you make your own, you can use chicken or shrimp, white cheese, beans, green chilis, or whatever you like, you can get really innovative and even make sweet tamales for dessert, with apples and cinnamon, etc. You don't have to stick with the common spiced beef or pork. I've also had very good tamales in New Mexico. The ones I had in New York were not so good.

Being that I've eaten tamales in every restaurant that sells them in every single one of the fifty states, I'd have to go with Alaska.
