All three of my teen sons have loft beds, but the one with a twin size--we can't keep a sheet on it for more than a day or two. It is a good size mattress (not a pillow top, but not a small, cheap one, either). He is a very restless sleeper, which makes it tricky.

BTW, he's a normal size teen, 5'8", 150 lbs.
No problems with the other two, but they have Ikea softer mattresses, which may make a difference. IDEAS??

Yes, it's the fitted sheet, we don't use top sheets at all (just comforters). Large safety pins ripped the sheet (I used six around the bed).

Love the "pillowcase" sheet idea, and the clips. I'm so frustrated by it (silly, I know!!) that I'm not just sitting back and enjoying the challenge!

i assume u mean the fitted sheet
sew straps to it that go under the mattress
all the way across
fasten with velcro
or you could make a sheet that fits like
a pillow case

Get a good quality set of sheets. Make sure the bottom sheet fits the depth of the mattress. Then also purchase sheet clips for the corners of the top sheet. These things have clips on them on each end of them to clip to the sheet and stretch around the bottom & under the corner of the mattress. They work real well to keep the top sheet in place. You can get them at the linen shops or the dollar stores & places like walmart.

If that doesn't work for you, just sew a short line or tack to the corners of your top sheet on the bottom edge.

Or just don't use a top sheet at all. Use a comforter that can be thrown in the wash or just use a microfiber blanket or a thermal blanket.

How about using a fitted sheet that is twice the size required, you can kindof wrap it around the whole mattress which should help keep it in place, or try putting the mattress in a duvet cover, and using that as a sheet.

Twin, bunk or loft beds are all great for a small room. If you don't need the storage space under it you can get a twin bed with a pullout bed underneath. That leaves room for your kids to play and only has to be pulled out for sleepovers. Ask your kids what they would like. Good luck.

I had the same problem with my son's sheets. I purchased elastic straps that are specifically made for this problem. Try checking a Wal-Mart or similar store. They worked great!

Tell your son to take his shoes off before going to bed - the shoes seem to be doing that kind of damage. I was a big teenager and I never had such a problem.

In Oz we have quilt covers for our quilts..perhaps you call them eiderdowns or comforters..anyway a quilt cover one size larger than the mattress will do it...cant possibly come off till you take it off and wash it..
