Slugs and other mollusks are generally made of mostly water and proteins. The mucus that they have all over them and inside them is to keep them from drying out and to help them move better, since they don't have efficient limbs or feet. Some slugs are different colors on both the outside and the inside, in fact this coloration is frequently used to identify their species. About salt killing them, it's true. I believe beer does also.

My bloody plants. Filled with it? So you squished one? They are the grossest things. Eww.Salt does melt them, I do it all the time but you still have to wash away the sh*t they leave behind. It's like snot. I HATE slugs and snails

I put one on a hook when i went fishing yesterday and caught a big trout. I got caught by the bailif and got a £200 fine and my rod confiscated. Whatever theyre made of, they are bad luck..
