Altho I am not one to go around constantly with a cell phone attached to my head, I have wondered whether they might also deter or help in a crime situation. For example, you see some suspicious activity and you call the police; or it looks like someone is being attacked, and you make a call.
So, I'd like to know if you've either used your cell phone for something similar, or whether you can think of how they might prevent something terrible happening to someone, or for yourself.

actually the main purpose of a cell phone is for people to communicate easier to others while they r on the move.i do believe,at times, when u least expected.it does come in handy for u as well as others when help is needed.provided if the battery or the phone signal is strong.its not a sure thing for protection, but it does help.still the best bet is to b cautious n prevent crime in the first place.

relying on a false sense of security...like faking a phone call only gets you so far.

only the dumb criminals get caught

the smart ones can see if you are really on a call or not, and as with most criminals, they can spot a victim based on fear and what you are doing and target or profile such activities

sometimes making a phone call you become the suspect or victim as attention gets diverted to you

most annoying? people you know faking to be on the phone and ignore you as you stand there

some of the crimes are meant to draw in 'good Samaritans' and you become the unlikely victim

there is no right answer, learn to go with your gut and listen to your conscience

This was the first reason to buy a cell phone in the first place. Keep it always in your pocket not in your purse. Nobody will suspect you have one and it'll be very handy. Trust me.

This guy tried to rob me so I clubbed him in the face with my cell phone. It tore out his left eye with the antenna.

The cell phone worked for me.
