Well.... the patent is held by Edison and he got all the credit for it.

However, Edison had a large team of inventors, etc. working for him and most probably one or more of those individuals had a lot to do with inventing and developing it.

who ever beats you to the patent office and steals your design

often the people who get the credit stole it from someone else by being aware of the laws and don't care about ethics or principle
