I babysat for a family who took over 3 weeks to pay me.. well, they finally paid me and their check bounced!?

hi again.. my question is:
i babysat for this family who had some money issues. i understood that but thought it would be easy for them to pay me..the babysitter ASAP. well, it took them a little more than 3 weeks to finally pay me. they gave me a check for 50 dollars and i deposited it into my checking account along with other deposits. well, i was buying things but keeping track of everything until i checked my online banking statement.it was 102 bux negative because her check bounced and i was spending money that wasnt there. so now im stuck without my 50 dollar check and overdrafted fees her check caused. should i make them just pay me the $50.00 back because the check bounced or should i have them pay the $50.00 PLUS the overdraft fees her bad check caused? any help would be great.

absolutely, they should not only pay you for your services but because their check bounce they should pay for the overdraft fee as well, if you want to get technical you could try small claims court but i hope that she is grownup about this and pay you back your money that is due to you , good luck girl......

first go to your bank and talk to an account representive, they may be able to help you with your bounced check fees, especially if this is the first time you have bounced on them. explain the situation and they may remove one or all of the charges. Then you go and talk to the people who bounced the check on you ask for cash to replace the check and the bounce check fees. I have been in this situation in the past and it's very disturbing. good luck

Make her pay for anything you are out. all fee's
if you ever babysit for them again ask for cash up front.
