Kev- Here in the U.S., we just passed the five year anniversary of what we simpley call 9-11. The day that terrorists tried to make us cry. They succeeded to an extent but we still stand strong and proud and it's a sign I think, of how people can come together for their fellow human beings to offer support without asking for anything in return. So many peole jumped in on that very bad day in trying to rescue people and they did it not only because for some it was their job but because of who they are, or were. Most of America could only watch in horror as details were given but for the most part, an amazing amount of people sent whatever they could to help, cash or services. The love and caring is an actual tangible thing. This year there was a lot of "where they are now" type of stories and a super lot of them had to do with healing and tributes not only to those fallen but to those who helped when they could of stayed in their own cozy homes and not paid attention beyond a , "oh, that's too bad". For me, the way people reacted then and since have showed just the kinds of things that you feel are lacking in the world. On top of all that, what about the small acts of kindness that people do every day???

There are so many kind and caring people in the world; we just don't notice them as much, because it's the bad things that make the news! I've often thought that there should be a newspaper just for "Good News"...and that might inspire more people to want to do something good for others... not to mention that it might be uplifting and not depressing like the news and TV coverage of the news! ( Here I am, in la la land; not in reality!!)
Anyway, I thought that during and since Hurricane Katrina, that there has been alot of people, including celebrities, who have come forward with an awful lot of help, they have done so much to help those less fortunate. It makes us think just how wonderful humans can be, when they want to be. It's inspiring! I've also noticed that during times of tragedies, many celebrities show how much they care...some of them seem to pitch in, help with money, with time, by being there, etc.....and I'm glad to see that some of them have real feelings, and in spite of their star status, they have a real heart!
There's alot of greatness out there; it's just too bad we don't hear about this alot more often!

It happens everyday when people donate annomously. No gain...just helping another person, or a worthy organization. Also at every single blood drive, everywhere in the world. You gotta think small and manageable, everyones small part adds up into a huge movement.
