You lose your sense of normalcy in life. You suddenly have this person you have shared everything with missing from your daily life. You hurt, cry, wonder what if, and doubt if you will ever find someone else to love you. Then, as time goes on you heal. You find out how strong you really are. You build a new life through reconciliation with your ex or with someone new. Your future relationships are different because you know what you expect and you also know you are strong enough to stand up for what you want in life. And then, somehow, you still manage to ask yourself what if? what if? what if? for the rest of your life.

i do not agree with the other answers. you can tell that they have not gone thru a divorce or just had a bad scenc getting one. divorce is the last resort for a married couple. our problems today stem from people taking marrage so lightly and losing communication between each other. although divorce is the pits, any two adults with or without children can reach a mutual understanding and avoid a nasty divorce and hurting children.

divorce sucks. my husband and I were divorced in 1982, but actually we got back together in 1984. The divorce was very hard for both of us. Times were tough for both of us and our kids. They were only 5 and 3 years old.
But legally-- divorce means that if you have property owned together, you have some serious problems deciding how to manage decision-making when you can hardly speak to each other. If you have kids you have to face that though and be sure that you are looking out for their best interests. For instance, if your husband removes you as his beneficiary, how do you provide for your kids if something happens to him?
There are lots of other stressful issues that you have to deal with. We did and it actually brought us back together. We were lucky I guess, but you learn a lot of life's lessons going through a divorce.
We legally remarried in 1989. Actually there are some times that I wish I could divorce him again, but that's another story!!!
Good luck to you both, and remember that if you have kids, he is still their father and legally he has certain rights because of that.

LIKE ARE YOU WANTING THE DEFENITION? OR WHAT? IT IS WHEN 2 PEOPLE THAT ARE MARRIED, SEVER THE TIE BETWEEN THEM AND ARE SINGLE AGAIN. MOST DIVORCES END UP WITH THE PEOPLE NOT BEING ABLE TO STAND EACH OTHER, IF CHIDREN ARE INVOLVED LOTS OF ARGUING OVER THEM, AND CHILD SUPPORT PAYMENT (USUALLY FROM THE DAD), AND I GUESS PEOPL TRYING TO START THERE LIVES OVER....HOPE THAT ANSWERS THE QUESTION.

You split everything, you lose some of your friends, some people have to move and then you get on with your life.
