I have M.S. and would like to try my hand at growing some of my own organic produce. Due to limited mobility, I need to grow things in large patio pots. Does anyone know anything about what types of vegitables can be grown in this manner. Any good books available on the subject?

My in-laws grow tomatoes and green peppers this way. I agree, you will need the wire cage to help support the plants.

Any smallish, compact veggie that you would put into a garden you can grown in a container as long as you make sure to give them plenty of water. The container will not provide them the water supply like they would get if they were planted directly into the ground.
Good luck with your endevor. I grow tomatos and many varieties of peppers as well as cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower in containers.

I grow Sweet 100 Cherry tomato plants in a 5 gallon bucket. Make sure to put a wire cage in it so that you can wire the branches as it grows so the limbs wont break.

I grow : tomatoes, green beans, pea pods, peppers all varieties, egg plant, garlic, onions, strawberries, horseradish.

I also plant numerous greens such as spinach & leaf lettuce.

Herbs : cilantro, dill, parsley, basil, thyme, oregano, mint & rosemary.

I use just a standard fertilizer every watering. Watering will vary due to your soil and weather. Happy gardening : )

We have grown just about everything. Tomatoes, especially grape tomatoes. Green peppers, Jalapenos, pole beans, you name it. A container herb garden is fun too.
