It takes too long to go outside and have a smoke. It affects productivity. Smokers have no rights during working hours.

The amount of taxes smokers pay each year should allow them to smoke whenever and( within reason) anywhere they want providing they are not in a confined space with non smokers.
All these people who whinge about smoking and, smokers really makes me mad because us smokers pay for most of the medical services that non smokers enjoy.
In law smokers do not actually have any rights and this should be looked at as it is a form of discrimination.
Of course there should be no smoking in certain situations which are obvious but whilst at work there should be a smokers only area the same as there are non smoking area.

smokers only right is to quite the job and go work outside. otherwise they are either taking the air from other workers or taking too many smoke breaks and leaving the other workers with a larger load. I feel that smokers should get paid no more then half of non smokers because my experience has been that they are always on a smoke break.

Smokers rights that doesn't exist..... But I know it is down to the employers discretion as to where you light on break on there premises or surroundings. But there's nothing stopping you from going over the road on to public pathway and smoking there, they cant do nothing about that.

I own my own business, and although I let my smokers bugger off for a *** whenever they want, I also give my non smokers an extra 2 days holidays per year, by the fact that they don't and spend more time at their desk.. .probably on bloody MSN... but what the heck, as long as the job gets done.
The law only states that you have to provide workers with breaks... and technically that would be the only time that you would be able to smoke.

Outside premises during working hours? Does that mean that he/she is away from their assigned post. Doesn't that infringe on everyone, non smoker or smoker, who has to pick up for the slacker?

By law you are not required to smoke, therefore you do not need to have a break to do it. Most council s ask that you smoke x amount of metres away from their premises. You are not paid to smoke but to do a job so why should you have the right?

I just want to point out to all of the people who say smokers are lazy that I smoke and I spend more time at my desk than any of the non-smokers in my office, I also spend less time on personal phone calls and less time just "shooting the breeze" with co-workers. Maybe you should take a real look at your own habits before you try to call someone else lazy. (I also do about 50% more work than the other people who do my job)

Presuming you're contained in the united kingdom then there is not any contemporary law meaning you won't have the ability to discriminate against human beings who smoke. at the instant you could no longer discriminate against every person on the inspiration of their intercourse, race, (colour, nationality, ethnic or nationwide origins), marital status, faith, sexual orientation, age or by using fact they have gone via gender reassignment. Smoking isn't a incapacity and is a private selection. i does no longer propose you to discriminate against every person as they might fall into certainly one of the different catagories. Plus, every person who has over a million years provider is a risk-free worker and would desire to pursue a case for unfair dismissal. human beings who smoke have no criminal entitlement to smoking breaks. As you have been offering those you will choose to enforce a transformation to their words of employment. you will try this via consulting with them and then giving notice of whilst the substitute will happen. whether you could desire to intorduce a device the place they might desire to artwork longer hours to accomodate their breaks - it relatively is what maximum city councils at the instant do. back you will choose to seek for suggestion from with the affected workers as this would be a transformation to their words and prerequisites of employment.

They have no rights, its company discretion. However, I think they should only be allowed to smoke at lunchtime, i dont get any other breaks during the day, so why should they.
