I use the free version of Limewire along with Zone Alarm, Norton A.V., Spybot S&D, Ad Aware Personal Edition and SpywareBlaster.
If you keep to music files and are sensible, look at file sizes and formats you will be OK., Norton has picked up a few `Downloader Trojans` though and dealt with them forthwith.
I have never tried to get movies or pictures as I have been told that they are riddled with porn, malware, spyware and virus`.
Kazaa Lite++ has ruined a good few hard drives too and I would never allow it anywhere near my PC again. I was very, very doubtful about Limewire, but, so far so good.
With a little practice it works quite well.

If you really want to be safe don't use P2P apps altogther they
are riddled with spyware and virus limewire includes 3rd party adware Cydoor to deliver targeted ads to you. Cydoor consumes about 3.4MB of hard drive space, and cannot be uninstalled using the Windows uninstaller and no uninstaller is provided to you.

Could be. I've been using it for a few years and haven't had any major problems although I do have to scrutinize my downloads with anti-spyware and cleaners - and I have had to clean up quite a few of them.
One thing though, I'm still using the original version and haven't upgraded to a new version. I think the newer versions probably do have some malware in them.

http://frostwire.com is the FREE one, from whicn Limewire Pro is pirated.
Limewire is then crippled, and the nags put in, and the offer lto sell the Pro version to you, when actually, Pro version is already FREE in Frostwire!!!
That should tell you something! They took the example from Microsoft, who now runs Microsoft.com, Hotmail.com, MSN.com, and all servers on the Campus, on 45,000+ Linux systems!
http://pclinuxos.com includes Frostwire, with the 1900 FREE and Open Source games and programs on the disc.

hi, perhaps you can try norton to remove the virus and protect your PC, but you need to pay for the software.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:
