Hello, okay, my checking account has been overdrafted before, but i have always taken care of it right away.. well, i just got out of debt with my checkin acocunt and it was back on the positive side. my problem is, my bank is really slow in posting items to the account. i hate this. this time around, i decided to keep track of the purchases i made in my transaction registry and good thing i did because my bank account says -$102.00!!!! i know this is NOT right, and even if i did spend alot, i should still have around 40 bux in there.. i know this is due to the slowness of the bank, but how do i get them to take off the so called overdraft fees?? they charged me 28 dollars x3 in fees. Please help.

Consider this your "Lesson" learned... Pay the fee and promise yourself to not get in the situation again! NOW put an extra $100 or $1000 in your checking and do not register it in your book. Pretend it isn't there and your overdrafting will stop !

Can't do this, no way, no how, you say ? Then poosibly you need to change the way you think... Try looking at if differently, Say you are having a problem with the management of your money, which if you are getting overdrafts then YOU ARE having problems !! Well what you are doing is not working for you so you need to make a change... Cut back somewhere in your life to come up with this extra $$ and get it in your accounts. I have 4 checking accounts and all have extra money in them which I don't register and don't touch just in case I make an error. I have had overdrafts before due to my mathmatical errors after the second time IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN ! Lesson learned !

Sometimes they post payments before posting deposits. If this happens, the bank software automatically dings you for an overdraft. Their customer service reps can take a look at it for you and most will give you a break if this is the case.

You can call and get it done. However, it is usually more effective if you visit a branch office and request it in person. It is harder for them to tell you no when you are looking them in the eye.

They may or may not be willing to remove all 3 charges, but it sounds likely that at least 2 would be removed. Good luck!

If you are having trouble due to other debt, then you may wish to speak with a financial counselor. Here is a directory of counseling agencies by state:

Not much you can do about it. The bank must publish its rules regarding availability of funds. If you are writing checks against funds that have not passed the "availability of funds" date, then you are liable. New laws went into effect earlier this year that make it much quicker for banks to clear the checks you write. The days of kiting checks are over. They may or may not have updated how fast they make your funds available.
