Some people use benefits as their way of living. You would be surprised to find out how little people get when they really need it and people who don't get far to much. I have been on disability for many years. I have been working hard with the program to get off. The resources available aren't few and far between. If the system is used the way it was meant to be. it is a wonderful stepping stone. I was able to get a great job, but I had a physical set back. Now I have gotten better and can't wait to get off. If you aren't using the the system in the right way, it can be very difficult to get off. True, some people are very lazy and have no pride in working for a living. I am not one of them. I want to piss and moan about work like everyone else does. If the money this ex receives is used for something other than necessities, report her. The wrath of the government can be jail time if fraud is proved.

My dear woman, I can tell that you are very upset by this one particular woman, the one that was married to your husband before you.
You, like anybody else, are entitled to your opinion and indeed by posing this question you are exercising your right to free speech, but, have you not got a sister you can talk too, or your mother maybe ?
None of us here know the lady concerned or the particular circumstances surrounding you and your family group.
I cannot help feeling that now you have this lady`s husband there may be rather more to this situation than you are relating to us.
The break up of a marriage or long term relationship can be a very traumatic experience for all of those concerned, one can only guess at what has happened in this case. Obviously you would like the situation to normalise in your favour and I guess she would like some normality back too.

People have got energies and time to work or play. So most people will like to spend their time for some reward, productivity, however measured, by pushing supermarket trolleys or doing the garden or however they best fill their time.
Unless they are complete wasters: alcoholics, dope fiends, mental cases, they are apt to want to do something productive: might not be useful (e.g. making cigarettes).
Unless, you can offer somebody a job in the work that is amenable to them for the right consideration, I would suggest that you mind your own business.
If the Government creates the jobs, you might end up paying even more taxes. Benefits are the cheap solution.

The SCROUNGERS really piss me off. 3 Years ago my son fell off a roof, no claim as he was working for himself, he crushed 6 Vertebrae in his back. There are metal plates and 29 screws in his back, but does he sit at home claiming Incapacity Benefit? No he doesn"t, he has a wife and child to support and works hard as a Steel Erector on building sites. If ever a person could claim benefits then he could.

I think the government should have an amnesty[ for want of a better word ] give warning that all benefits will stop within 3 or four weeks and their children taken into care if they could not prove that they can maintain them . I guarantee 95% of these lazy gits would be out earning their keep and no children would suffer.

i know someone who gets disability for a bad back, he can walk better than me, he has got a brand new car, gets money for doing nothing he is always on holiday too.
i dont understand why he cant get a job sat down on a computer or something, i bet if his money was stopped he would soon get a job. its too easy to get disability these days. it annoys me as i have worked all my life, i had 5 days off after giving birth (without pay) i didnt even put in for maternity pay, and i cant afford a holiday as i have the usual bills to pay, we dont all get out taxes paid for, or a new car, food grants etc

What the hell does it have to do with you? Why don't you get on with your own life instead of bothering about this woman? Seems like there are some other issues about this woman not just the fact she is on benefits.

it could be that laziness its self is a psychological disability or that in many cases it isn't actually laziness but say the poisonous lack of motivation and direction that comes with depression.
