Maybe it's a pinched nerve. I was in a lot of pain and couldn't walk. It happened a few times in the last three, or four years to me, but I never went to the Dr. I just rested and in a week, less, or more it went away. Does the pain go down your leg? Hurt when you walk?
Or just all the time?

And what the person said above could be true. Depending how long you've had it.

I would still vote for kidney if you are talking on the back and to the right of the spine.
Not all kidney stones are visible on XRay or ultrasound. (Some people I know were sent home under this situation and passed stones at home without pain relief.)
Kidney stones arent the only thing that goes wrong with the kidney.

Sounds like a stone to me. Conventional x-rays will not show a stone made of uric acid. Might ask the doctor for a VCUG which can check flow and obstruction. You may be obstructed for other reasons as well. Have you renal function tested (simple blood test) to be safe. Uric acid stones are spiked in appearance and very painful as they move. Good luck.

Have they tested for appendicitis? Sounds like the pain is a little high for the "typical" appencicitis pain, but some of us aren't "typical"!
