All killing of human beings is called homicide. There is justifiable homicide and there is murder. Justifiable homicide is killing in self-defense, defense of another, defense of property, war and police action. Murder is either accidental or intentional. There is often a fine line between what is justifiable and what is not, and what is accidental and what is not. There is also a fine line between the kinds of intentional murder.

As far as there being a good reason to kill, I would have to say that this is strictly up to the conscience of the individual. there are many people that will refuse to kill no matter what----even at the expense of their own lives. And there are many people that will kill at the drop of a hat. I cannot judge between the two. I myself have never killed or attempted to kill anyone, and I frankly do not know what I would do if I were placed in a situation where I had to make that decision. I do not think that anyone in his right mind can make that decision until confronted with the situation.

No - there is NEVER a good enough reason to kill someone! No-one has the right to take another life no matter what they have done!

No reason is good enough actually, but, this is a clue to another answer... the one used by religion-minded people
if that someone is not good enough, you should kill it in the name of perfect world... (see, must be crazy to think something a good reason for that)!
I don't think self-defence is a reason, it's a circumstance, so I don't mention it!

I don't think its our place to make the decsision. I'm sure we all feel like there are certain crimes that mean we should kill someone, but I am not for that.
The only way we can be happy is to stop fighting against the natural power of everything. Wu-wei is the answer.

I could not do it, but mercy killing, would be one reason I think one has the right to have theirself killed, or put to death, they put animals to death to save them from pain, I think that should also be allowed for people that have no hope, or help for their pain. BUT God is the one that has to make the real choice, and he has done that already, and he put it in the commandments.

i don't believe that we as human beings ever have the right to purposely kill another.
if in self defense the attacker is accidentally killed, then that is unfortunate, but never a "reason"
