Hi!
I need to know what kind of modem it is and what the slot is you are putting it in...ISA (Black), PCI (White), PCI Express(Short White), EISA (Black). Does it have jumpers.
However, I'm guessing it has something to do with a Port and IRQ settings. Try using a different port.

Have you inserted the internal modem properly? If you have another slot free, try to insert the modem in that slot and reboot. If problem persists, check your BIOS settings for IRQ Assignment, Slot enabling. If that also doesnt work, then consult your modem seller.

either the start up has an issuewith the modem or the modem is causing problems with startup. check your bios settings and see if anything goes through the expansion slots. if not then the modem might be bad

Check if your PC boots without the modem. If it boots then fix the modem properly. If the system does'nt boot again then return the modem back to the vendor.

remove the modem first . then check if the system boots normally. if it boots normally then be sure that the modem has a fault and change the modem. and if u r sure that the modem is ok then try to reinstall the modem. but i am sure it is modem which is faulty. if it is in guarrenty period then go to the service center.

try moving it to a different slot ... end slots are usually for video cards requiring DMA access and modems in that slot may cause issues ... another problem may be with an off brand card .. sometimes they are not quality controlled to align the contacts in the slots and may actually short the buss ... make sure you are using a good quality card (like 3com/USRobotics) and that its the right type of card for the slot you are trying to use and that you are not using an end slot.

Your laptop is attempting as well from the community - as many machines in businesses do. As you do not have a server to provide an operating gadget for then you definately it may't initiate. both you've by twist of destiny replaced the BIOS settings so as that it boots from the community fairly than the hardchronic, or something has exceeded off for your operating gadget so as that it may't boot - causing your device to attempt all different achieveable boot units. examine your BIOS settings.

check the PCI slot is working good and make sure that slot does not contain any dust. clean it up or wipe it with the soft cloth and then try to fix it in the slot and then boot it up again
if this is not working try to update the bios by newer bios version
or try with the different slot

I think it's like scanning all around the system like it does if you put a diskette in the floppy drive and it says boot error, Better wait until it's finished loading

go to your device manager and see if there is a conflict with the modem's address with something else like a com port, scanner, or whatever.
