In my view it is scandalous. The NCB (National Cheese Board) have run the mines into the ground, and not provided up to the minute equipment like high speed cheese drills and tungsten cocktail sticks. It's not just Cheddar Gorge either - thousands of cheeseminers in Wensleydale, the Stilton fields of Derbyshire, Gloucester, Gloucester (double Gloucester) and Ilchester are facing the sack. At least hard line union leader 'Red' Leicester is putting pressure on the government.......

No it is not due to the cheap imports that is causing the mine to close, it is the threat from the Edam and Gouda Mafia from Holland that has put up the protection racket costs and now Cheddar Gorge Bush cant afford to pay and have to close. However, there is hope of forming an alliance with the Red Leister Army and the little known ASDA special "Seriously Strong Cheddar" (for added muscle) to counter the terroristic threats from the dutch cheese mafia and ensure the survival of the cheese mines of England.
