Especially in the nose and ears? Is this to protect from infection?

There is a theory that one difference between humans and human / chimp ancestors is that humans become sexually mature adults whilst still retaining most of their ancestor's infant characteristics such as lack of hair. Adult humans do though have hair covering their... adult bits.

Maybe growing hair on the rest of our bodies, ears, nose etc. is to some extent, our bodies way of fulfilling their human / chimp ancestor maturity.

Not sure why, but who ever can solve this problem will become extremely rich! I mean, what is the point of ear hair in old people when they are struggling to hear anything anyway??

I personally don't know, but it's a real drag man.
You've had some good answers, but I don't think the hair will stop growing what ever we are told. Just keep clipping away, what a drag though!

Yes,'Tis a thought as i drive about the countryside plucking hair from my nostrils. Which, incidentally, makes my eyes water something chronic!
But i have noticed the backs of my hands getting hairier!..
..also trim my pubes more often!

It seems as though the hair is migrating south....like retired people who prefer warm weather, so they move to the Sunbelt. That is the best explanation I can come up with.

i think this is because of the hormonal changes in the body.
there is an increase of testosterone in the body. the more the hair the more testosterone u have
