Atleast some of the light in the dark ...........

Depends upon the mood and things you plan to do that session. If you are planning to initiate your partner into something that he/she considers a taboo so far, try first in darkness. Whereas with an accostomed partner, where inhibition is not an issue, a seeable light is preferable so that:
1. you can clearly see the various nooks and cracks for visual arousal.
2. You can see the whites of here eyes when she comes.

I think it depends on the mood at the time. It is great either way but usually done in dim light.

not complete darkness but slightly dark room which makes it all the more romantic.

yea a slightly dark room where you can see them but not very clearly. a dark room with candles is great
