I had a problem with my boiler recently and I called the gas company out and everything but they could find nothing wrong. It turned out to be the on/off switch on the boiler had been turned off so check that. If it is really old you may need a new boiler which will not be cheap.

Check that the thermostat on the boiler isn't set to zero. I had to have the gas man out when my toddler turned it right down and I had no hot water - he simply turned it up to 60 degrees and I felt like a right fool.

Check to see that your water supply is adequate, still hooked up, or whatever. Also, sometimes you have to hold down a button or switch for a period of time after you have the pilot light going. If you have to call someone, watch carefully what they do, and ask lots of questions.

Is the water pressure high enough? There should be a dial somewhere with a red hand and a black one. The black one should be nearly as high, but no higher than the red one....
