Yes if Google is the father ..then Yahoo is the mother.....and it high time that people are getting more and more dependent on google for the answers they want to see....

No. Google has been around a relatively short span. Dogpile and Yahoo were there before Google (although I prefer Google). There were other engines too, but my search did not show all the ones I have used. The link gives you a history/time line. If I read it right, Google started 1998 - and I used others before that.

Well I like to say Yes and No. Because the name google is easiest to remember thats why everyone prefer google. But there are other engines as well. They are faster than google and yahoo.
But still google is one of the best search engines.

Yahoo predates it but the Daddy of all serach engines is Archie "The first search engine created was Archie, created in 1990 by Alan Emtage, a student at McGill University in Montreal. The original intent of the name was "archives," but Unix standards required a shorter filename."

Call it father, mother or king of search engines...I just know that I can't spend one single day without using google web search, language tools and image search!!!

Do a search for search engines in a search engine other than Google.....there are so many of them, you will be surprized!

Its not father of all but its the only search engine which crawls every day, so updates keeps comming on it.
