I'm sure some stick to their hobbies for life, but not necessary so for all. It all depends on the individual, and how the interests hold on. We grew up, our interests changed with the times and surroundings. I used to collect stamps, a fad during my school days. I grew out of it. I've collected matchboxes and gave them away at a later stage. But I'm still into collecting coins, something I picked up some 20 years ago when my collection starts (working in a hotel, having access to coins from different countries).

A hobby is a mother of Hobbies. Once you have a hobby_ it will lead you to another hobby and so on... and at end of the day, you will be the happiest man. Believe me.

Well, unless you try new things, then yeah. I try to pick up at least one new thing a year. This year was learning to make incense. Last year was poetry, which I'd always hated, but finally had a professor who was able to show it to me in the right light. Year before was knitting. Always look for new stuff--keeps you from getting boring.
