Superman is also vulnerable to magical and psionic effects. Although he is no more detrimentally affected by such effects than a normal human would be, this is a significantly exploitable weakness in comparison to his incredible physical resilience. As a result, in the recent mini-series, First Thunder, which depicts Superman's first encounter with Captain Marvel, Superman notes that he would prefer that the Captain handle these threats when possible since, although Captain Marvel's powers are similar to his own, their magical orientation makes him more resistant to supernatural attacks. He is vulnerable to Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth and Tiara. Effects that specifically alter the established laws of science are another matter entirely such as the natural weapons of supernatural creatures (vampires, werewolves, etc.), spells and arcane energies targeted at the Man of Steel are treated as cast on any mortal.
During the JLA/Avengers crossover, Superman battled Marvel Comics character Thor. Although the thunder god manages to draw blood from the Last Son of Krypton with his mystical hammer "Mjolnir", it is evident that Superman's invulnerability still worked to resist debilitating damage from the blows, even going so far as blocking the weapon mid-strike (only achieved once before during Thor's battle against Count Nefaria), as well as the lightning from the god's warhammer. It's been established that if the effect of magic is used to simulate or enhance a naturally occurring force (such as the natural elements or concussive energy, for example), Superman's natural defenses reacts to them normally. Although Superman can resist telepathic/mental manipulation or outright domination thanks to his Kryptonian knowledge of "Torquasm Vao" (a mental training technique), as well as his own indomitable will, his natural powers do not provide him with any special defenses against such attacks.

Traditionally the big three have always been Kryptonite, magic and Virus X.
('Magic', as used here, covers all supernatural and psionic effects.)
There used to be several different varieties of Kryptonite, which were done away with by Crisis on Infinite Earths. Some affected Superman and some didn't; some were harmful to him and some weren't.
Virus X was supposed to be Kryptonian leprosy, the only form of disease for which Kryptonians had not found a cure. Superman got it, was dying and went into space so he would not contaminate the Earth. As he sped away, the Bizarros threw Blue Kryptonite at him. Blue K has no effect on animal life, but is deadly to all forms of plant life. Presto! the Bizarros accidentally cured Superman! It seems that Virus X was a unicellular plant life form similar to algae, and not what we think of as a virus after all.
A similar plot device, for Kryptonian Rabies, was once used. Krypto the superdog (who used to really come from Krypton) was infected and grew to an enormous size. He was a danger to earth until superboy led him away to a deserted asteroid. Then Krypto succumbed to paralysis, which meant he was in the last stages. I forget how he was cured at the last minute, but you get the idea. They could think up more Kryptonian diseases to throw at Supes.
(Daily Planet headline: SUPERMAN GETS HAY FEVER! KNOCKS DOWN LEXCORP BLDG WITH A SINGLE SNEEZE!
But I digress....)
Cutting Superman off from the rays of the sun will not immediately disable him. His cells act like super efficient solar power batteries, and they can store a charge for quite a while (otherwise, he wouldn't have any super powers at night!)
Similarly, subjecting Superman to a Krypton-like gravity field would not take away all his powers. He might only have ordinary strength then, but anybody else inside a gravity field like that of Krypton (trying to attack him) would be crushed flat in an instant! Krypton probably had at least twenty or thirty times Earth's gravity.
You might try combining both high gravity and lack of sunlight. His power reserves might fade out more quickly then. Or also try using up his reserves of power faster.
Once he is non-super, whack him over the head with a baseball bat. Or you could scream in his ear if you want.

Superman is also a bit weak against magic. Any condition that would prevent him from being exposed to the sun (or any solar radiation) would also weaken him.
I guess if you shouted a magic word at Superman while he's been deep underground for a long time using a megaphone made out of Kryptonite, you'd make his eardrums bleed. ;-)

Besides kryptonite being Superman's weakness, his other main weaknesses in the world are the lovely ace reporter, Lois Lane, and his beautiful Earth Parents, Jonathan & Martha Kent.
