I'm thinking it's Iowa, but I'd like to back this up. A list would also help, if it possible and credible. Thank you.

Whew -- fun chase!!

Well, as of December 2005 (latest figures?), it seems to be Illinois. From National Agricultural Statistics Service:

Corn For Grain: 2005 - Illinois - Dec 1 - 940,000 thousand bushels (on farm stock); 756,664 thousand bushels (off farm stocks); 1,696,664 thousand bushels (total)

Check the link below to get your own statistics on this and other fun farming stuff!! Neat! (Unfortunately, it won't hold my data when I paste the link -- email me if you can't get the right results & I'll tell you what I did to get it.)

Thanks for the chance to have a great hunt.

A rerunning of the chart brought up IOWA as number ONE -- don't know why the figures are different this time, but here they are: Corn For Grain: 2005 - Iowa - Dec 1 - 1,300,000 thousand bushels (on farm), 695,802 thousand bushels (off farm), 1,995,802 thousand bushels (total). Sorry for confusion!!

Iowa grows the most corn, has the most pigs, the most soybean, and the second most farms in the nation. Go to the Iowa Visitor's Bureau or the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS).
