over the last 12 weeks i have lost 3.5 stone, and feel much better for it, however with only half a stone left to loose to get to my target weight, im struggling. I run 4-8 miles a day and do 100 sit ups too, but the weight is not coming off, can anyone suggest a daily reigime to trim those last bits off?
Please nor sarcastic or philosophical comments.

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Get latest info like American Heart Association does not want you to eat more than 6 ounces daily of meat, fish or poultry. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Hi,

You have done fantastically well to lose 3.5 stone in 12 weeks and I hope you keep up the momentum!

You mention that your routine is running and sit-ups, both excellent exercises, however have you considered also using weights?

Weights are an ideal way of toning and also have the effect of raising your metabolism for longer which means that you still burn calories at a faster rate than normal long after a weights 'session.'

As a general rule of thumb use low weights with a high number of 'reps' to tone and continue losing body weight, and high weights with a low number of reps to build muscle.

You can either use weights in a gym and have the added bonus of access to personal trainers who can assist you (although this can be expensive), or use weights at home. Shops like Argos sell excellent home weights / gym equipment, and fitness magazines can provide some excellent routines and instructions on how to do exercises.

Finally, it goes without saying that diet is just as important. You can do all the excercise in the world but if you put bad food into your body afterwards then it will minimise the effect your training has.

A healthy balanced diet combined with regular and varied exercise and you can't go wrong.

Good luck.

You have lost 3.5 stone in 12 weeks?!!? Two response: WOW - that is impressive, and secondly, that is REALLY DANGEROUS. A safe weight loss is 2 pounds at most a week, so really somewhere just over a stone would be safe. You are putting you cardiovascular system under great strain. Don't try and lose any more weight - at best you should aim to maintain the weight. And don't be disappointed if, when you return to a more normal level of exercise, you put a bit of weight on. Maintain a reasonable level of exercise, and a healthy diet, and you will find your 'natural' weight.

Well done you!!!

Two options I can think of,

1) Change your eating habits, decrease calories by a further 200 or so.

2) Change the exercise, your body may have become accustomed to it, do less cardio and more weight bearing.

Have you thought that perhaps your body is now the perfect size for you? Target weights off of height/weight charts are meant to be flexible depending on frame size etc;, I would think with all the exercise you are doing and if you eat healthily, your body has found it's comfortable size.

Good luck!

Gym, diet and check your calorie intake. I think the diets the toughest part. When you workout and develop more muscle together with getting more fit, that increases your metabolism which will help your body burn foods faster. At a certain point, you'll be able to eat anything and not gain weight that quick. Experiment and good luck on your quest!

Try changing your exercise routine. Instead of running try lap swimming or aquaerobics. The water will work your whole body not just your legs. You have lost a tremendous amount of weight. Becareful.
