I've always thought this would be really cool - if you could put a piece of string between here and the moon then people could climb up it and go into space without the need for expensive ships etc. - aceamondo! :)

You can't get to the moon using balls of string, you need a rocket.

My plan was to ask, "how big are your balls?", but when I saw there were 22 answers ahead of me I knew I was toast. So OK, how fine is the string?

I think a rocket or spaceship would be more reliable.... How do you ride a ball of string anyway, no matter how many you may have?
