I have a better idea, let's pettition that Pluto is given back its planet status AND it be renamed after you! I am sure if we petition like this we will get at least 4 billion signatures, at the least 3.5...

Sorry if I hurt any feelings but it seems like people learned only 9 things in the grade school and now because they lost 1/9 of their whole scientific knowledge, they are getting really upset. How about learning some more to compensate... Did you know there is something called Kuiper Belt in the solar system? Oort Cloud anyone?

Breaking News!
No need to do that. We got new one.
We got the subtitute for the Pluto,
Heres the news:

""We could be looking at an entirely new class of planets," said Gaspar Bakos, a Hubble fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass.

With a radius about 1.38 times that of Jupiter, HAT-P-1 is the largest known planet. But, in spite of its huge size, its mass is only half that of Jupiter.

"This planet is about one-quarter the density of water," Bakos said. "In other words, it's lighter than a giant ball of cork! Just like Saturn, it would float in a bathtub if you could find a tub big enough to hold it."

Astronomer Robert Boyes, co-discoverer of the planet, said, "This new discovery suggests something could be missing in our theories of how planets form."

Bakos is lead author of a paper submitted to the Astrophysical Journal describing the discovery.

There you go, just come and go!

Excuse me, but saying Pluto is a planet is not scientifically intelligent because it is discovered that Pluto is actually part of Keiper Belt and if we call Pluto a planet, we would have to call thousands of other rocks in the Keiper Belt, which have the characteristics of Pluto, planets as well. That does not make sense.

Just over 850 people in a 10,000 member organization decided that it should be reclassified. A petition is already underway by over 1,000 astronomers to change it back.

I'm glad they got rid of Pluto. It was such a boring planet.

i dont think we can do something in here.the astronomers already named its succesor as eris and thats it.they wouldnt do it for nothing.i mean, yeah ive known pluto as the last planet in our solar system for almost 3 decades of my life now but its the astronomers decision (or is it NASA?) that they have to changed its status.dont worry pluto will always be there, not as a planet but one of the stars..

Why do you care? Your question as stated belongs in the politics category....unless you state some type of scientific argument.

If it's going to cost the taxpayer money, I have absolutely no interest.
