I have a Largemouth bass I got out of a dried up pond 4 years ago. He is in a 75 gallon aquarium and is now about 17". He has been an awesome pet fish and is the most intelligent fish I have ever owned(he can recognize different people in our household). The problem is, I have somewhat wanted to keep at least something else in there with him as he has plenty of room, but because of his large size, aggressive disposition, and that he is able to eat large fish and frogs, not much is safe from him anymore short of another bass. There is plenty of cover such as live aquatic plants, rocks, and wood, but even the most secretive fish seem to get found within a few days. His is territorial, but there would be enough room for 2 bass. If I were to get one of similar size, would they fight? How territorial ARE they?

Honestly, you've already answered your own question. I have always kept big aquariums (125+) and I worship bass (lifetime bass fisherman). However, I really don't think you will be able to put anything in with him. At least, not for long. I would also reccomend against any kind of pleco or catfish. The probl;em with bass is they will eat ANYTHING. And something like a pleco, unless it is alreayd huge compared to him (and if he is 17" then the answer is that it probably is not bigger than him),
one night in all his glorious power he will attempt top eat the pleco, and with the bony body of a pleco or spines of a cat, he could very well kill himself in the process. Over the years I've seen several big fish die with a pleco or some other spiked fish loged in their mouth to the point they can do nothing but slowly waste away or get infected.
I love bas in aquariums, keep him as the pet he is and adore him. By the way, some people will think it's cruel, but if you want to give him a real treat, throw in an adult mouse (maybe even a larger rat!).
As the rat tries to swim for safety the bass will enhale him instantly, but they love that chace the instant before he catches his prey! Long live the Largemouth!!!!

A 17" LM Bass in a 75g tank is about all you are going to be able to get in there. You pointed out the most obvious reasons why (because he is big enough to eat stuff probably close to have his size and smaller).

It sounds like you have a really wonderful setup. I'd keep him in there as he is. If he has been with you as long as you say - he has established that tank as his territory, and is not going to be a receptive to others coming in as you may think.

It's his home - I'd leave it that way.

Good luck

hey guy. in a tank like that, you mustn't have tankmates for an arowana. in reality, an arowana needs a 2 hundred gallon tank minimum. you in basic terms can not shop a silver arowana in certainly one of these small (for this species, in any different case very great) tank. additionally, peacock bas choose approximately one hundred fifty gallons, fee 5 money a week (sure a week) to feed, and are very stressful to wean off stay meals. please get your arowana an more advantageous tank, something contained in the kind of two hundred gallons or extra.

Another bass would be ok.
B/c they are territorial, b/f placing the new bass in, rearrange the whole tank. This will confuss your old bass & he'll think the other one was there all the time.

A large pleco would do well, and survive at the same temp. A large koi may also do well
