Eyeliners don't snap if you keep them cool. If they do snap, they have been dropped. If that happens stand it in a cup of hot water with the nib sticking out, you will have to hold it down because it will float. After about 10 seconds, take it out & put it in the fridge. If you put it in the freezer it sometimes becomes brittle & you will end up with the same problem but for a different reason & it will be difficult to apply. You don't need to fork out for expensive eyeliners as long as you take care of them properly.

MAC has a good line of pencils; also you may want to try the kind that you just twist (Lancome) and you don't have to worry about sharpening. I find both lip liners and eyeliners that twist much better. Also sometimes the sharpener itself is the problem.

Estee Lauder are very good, make sure you have a good quality pencil sharpener too as cheap ones can sometimes cut into the pencil causing it to become weak and prone to snapping x

I go for the more expensive brands for most of my makeup but as far as pencils go, I always go back to Rimmel ones. They are strong, they go on smoothly and they stay put all day. I use the kohl liner in Panama for my eyes and eyebrows as it's a lovely rich dark brown without any orangey tones, and I use the lip liner pencil in Cappuccino, which is a stunning neutral shade.

I use Rimmel. They hold up well when sharpened. They also make the twist up ones that don't need sharpening.

Keep it in the fridge for a few hours before you sharpen it - then it won't break.

I dont't think it matters so much the brand. It depends on what the eyeliners are made of. I reccomand you to use kohl eyeliners cause they are softer and they don't break that easily!
