I have a baxi powermax 140 combi boiler. I tried turning the heating on yesterday in preparation for the winter and the radiators are cold, no heat gets sent to them at all. I bled the radiators but there was no air in the system.

I've noticed when the boiler is on the pressure is at 2 bar instead of the usual 1.5.

I sometimes have problems with the flow to my shower and it pulses between hot and cold.

Any advice?

Your hot water problem will be caused by the hot water mixing valve on the boiler, these fault quite regularly.

The pressure is still ok at 2 bar, 3 bar is the magic number, if your up round about there you'll get problems and your expansion vessel is probably goosed.

As for the heating.. check the timer and room stat are calling for heat, and I'd have a look at the heating pump if I were you. Turn on the heating and leave it on for 5 mins, then feel the heating pump, if its red hot it's done.

Sounds like it needs a good service..get a corgi registered boiler engineer to take a look.

you might have a air-lock, try turning the water in screw with a screwdriver till it goes just above 2 bar.. then see if it loses any water over a period of time.. sign up for british gas home care.. £14 per month approx, and they do a great job......

it does sound like an air-lock, does your boiler need servicing?
