In order to reduce carbon emissions and change our attitude towards the burning of fossil fuels, should motorsport, and any form of fuel consumption simply for amusement (e.g. Hollywood explosions) be banned?

No. That's not where the problem lies to begin with. The problem is greenhouse gasses produced in emerging third world countries that are not party to international greenhouse gas agreements.

Secondly, once you liberal types get through "banning" everything you say you want to ban , on this site, at least, the world is going to be a very drab, boring place. You should move to Chechnya, instead.

It represents such a tiny fraction of fossil fuels that it would be pointless. I mean, should you be banned from using your PC to access Yahoo? - It runs on electricity, which has probably been generated by burning fossil fuels, and your question invites other people to consume electricity by answering - hey, you're wrecking the planet!!!

Its only a tiny amount compared to everything else. A better catalitic converter for every car could do much better than stopping forms of entertainment.

Stop eating Beef and you reduce even more Greenhouse emissions, not Cars because they only pollute when driven made or wrecked A cow/bull eats farts,gets slaughtered,gets processed then cooked fried or boiled then it ends up in our system get crapped and farted etc..

The amounts concerned are minute compared to that created by air travel and personal car ownership.
Still, cycle racing is a much more exciting sport to watch!

car races that have the auto going in circles should be banned. not only is it completely retarded but i get sick of seeing giant billboards go in circles. i guess hillbillies and rednecks are more easily amused than i thought
