Do you honestly think if you are born and raised in a way of life that's wrong, ugly, and hard when you realise it you can change it?
Or do you think we live how our parents lived and we are doomed to spend the rest of our lives with those same patterns?
How would you learn to make a different way of life for yourself?

Well, the sad truth is most people cannot change. But, there are exceptions. I grew up in an extremely racist and undereducated household. I didn't let the racists teachings influence me. I knew there was a better way of life, and I thought for myself. You have to be pragmatic to be able to live free. Think for yourself. Not what your family and society says, but listen to yourself. Weigh all the facts, and then decide for yourself. If people could think for themselves and not just go with the flow, the world would be such a marvelous place to live.

I came from a not so well to do family. My parents lost their jobs while my siblings and I were still young. Life was hard, my father drunk alot, but atleast we all chose our destinies. I told myself, i dont want this kind of life when am grown up. I changed all that, i live a completely different life and i know my children will be proud and comfortable! its entirely up to u to decide what sort of life u want to lead.

To make the difference, look at your parents life, see where they went wrong, what mistakes they made and do the opposit! Its choosing right from wrong and being able to make a decision without compromise!
U can do it, coz i did...!

There is a saying, 'when there's a wheel, there's a way!'.

Impossible for kids to change lifestyle. But when one grows older, mature - nothing is impossible. Share some ideas to elevate life:
1) AIM HIGH - take some few risks
2) BE DETERMINED - nag to your lazy self
3) DO NOT BE AFRAID
4) FOCUS

And the most important- PUT JESUS in the throne room of your life, and you will never walk alone!

all you need to do is move 10 paces to the left and change your entire life...

if i was to follow my families way of doing things, i would be a racist misogynistic homophobe, who drank and ate too much, was always thieving from people and treated my offspring like little slaves... and have my first heart attack by the age of 30... HAPPILY, i am none of those things... because i realised i am not my family, i am an individual and make my own choices... :D

I live a totally different life to my parents.

They were both focussed entirely on work. They both worked about 80 hour weeks. We never saw them, they never took us anywhere and we relied on friends families to ferry us around.

Also both my parents smoked and drank heavily.

Now, in my life, we work part time and have a lot of time for our families and I've never smoked, ever, and have a drink about every three or four years.

I'VE READ ABOUT POOR MEN AND WOMEN GROWING UP IN THE GHETTO AND HOW THEY WERE ABLE TO RISE ABOVE AND BE POLITICIANS OR BUSINESSMEN.

A BAR GUEST OF MINE IS A SUCCESSFUL SMALL TOWN BUSINESSMAN IN THE CLOTHING INDUSTRY. HE SPECIALIZES IN URBAN GEAR.

HE GOT HIS START BY SELLING STOLEN CLOTHES OUT OF THE TRUNK OF HIS CAR ON THE STREETS OF PHILLY.

NOW HE IS LEGITIMATE AND DOING VERY WELL. HE HAS A BUSINESS OPERATING IN PHILLY AND TWO STORES HERE IN THE SOUTH. HE IS EVEN CONSIDERING OPENING HIS OWN BAR AND GRILL.

I TRY TO LEARN FROM HIS EXAMPLE. AND THERE ARE MANY MORE.
