Icons from the menu Bar? What icons? Perhaps you mean the tool bar? Do you mean icons like STOP and Favorites and Print, or Search. I'm not sure I understand what icons you are talking about specifically. Also contrary to what the first two answerers told you, these icons cannot be removed with a simple delete or cutting and pasting and I strongly doubt they have anything to do with why your system is slow. I would say the reason why your system is running slowly has more to do with a spyware or adware infection/ You can download Ad-aware free, a Lavasoft product or Spybot Search and Destroy from the Internet, or even better Webroot's Spy Sweeper for a slight charge to help you with this problem. Also do a disk cleanup and a disk defragmenting if you have never done these before. Then go through the program list in the Add/Remove Programs under the control panel and remove any programs which you KNOW YOU DID NOT NEED AND WHICH YOU DO NOT USE. I emphasize this because it is IMPERATIVE that you know what a program is and its purpose before removing it. Do not remove any program unless you know what you are doing.

You will want to do more then just delete the icons . Go to each individual program and tell it to not start when Windows starts.
