Yup, I'm willing to go all the way up to 24 cents. Bananas grow like weeds, why are you concerned? They ought to be glad we pay this much. If they are so cheap, how much - after growing costs, packaging, shipping, etc do you think a "western company" makes on 23 cents a pound?

Yes they do, but it's not necessarily all bad.
Think back to your high school US history class which covered the Industrial Revolution. The United States improved its economy though child labor, horrible working conditions, low wages, and long work days.
Not allowing Western companies to "exploit" these countries might mean they remain in poverty.
Sure, this process sucks, but if a country wants its standard of living to improve it must improve its productivity faster than its population growth. This could mean longer hours, child labor, or exploiting the countries natural resources. Probably the best way for this process to happen is to import technology through a multinational corporation.
I wouldn't say I'm "willing" to pay more, but obviously I would have to pay more it that's what things cost.

It is not just Western companies that do this. They are often supported by national elites and the governments in these countries who benefit financially. They provide the internal legal and economic frameworks to enable international companies to generate large amounts of profit from workers with few legal rights and who often live in extreme poverty.
I would pay about 2 bucks for fairtrade organic bananas from a trusted source.

As a non-Muslim American lady, i've got confidence that those rights for women all human beings is merely what they declare to be. i don't sense that my physique is being exploited merely by using fact i'm allowed to bare my face and palms. How is that sexual in any respect? i do no longer help prostitution, teenage being pregnant, or premarital intercourse, yet whilst men are allowed to coach some epidermis, why shouldn't women human beings? I agree that girls all human beings remains exploited in some techniques in Amnerica, yet they have been exploited in Islamic international locations to boot, in spite of each and all of the layers they positioned on.

banas are cheap when they have a glunt in the market same with other products they lower the price cuz they have too much and to sell the product before it spoils they must unload it so if the product is not in high quality like lots of high yeild they keep the pprice high it supply and demand

Too bad for these "banana republics" they hang on to these for their own survival. I think that they should be given more for this product.
