Absolutely, Austrailia was still a part of the British empire during WW2. They are who helped MacArthur escape from the Phillipines early in the war. They patrolled the shipping lanes from India to Austrailia for Japanese subs. Aussies were used in commando units and elite units a lot. There was even a wave of Aussie soldiers on the Normandy beach.

Yes Australia was involved..
As soon as England declared war on Germany, Prime Minister Menzies announced that ¡Australia was also at war¡¯. But there was a fear that Japan might try and expand its power. Australia had to make a decision: whether to look after home defence, or to commit troops to help England in the European war. Australia entered the European war soon after, Japan assured it would stay as a neutral country and England assured Australia was secure from Japan - the British naval base at Singapore would stop any Japanese advance towards Australia. But the defence line back in Australia was still there.

Australia was drawn in to World War II because the country itself felt an obligation in helping Britain as it was Australia’s Mother Country. Australian leaders, The Menzies Government, also felt compelled to send soldiers to fight for Britain because the defeat of Britain also meant the defeat of the British Empire. Australian soldiers fought in two separate locations during the short period of 1939 - 1945. These were : North Africa - Europe Asia and the Pacific
Only until the fall of singapore, when Australia lost trust in Britains ability to protect Australias shore line. Australians than turned to the united states of america and haven't turned back since (likesthey are helping them in iraq right now).

You bet they were. They were the first to stand up and be counted after the UK declared war on Germany in September 1939 as a result of the German invasion of Poland. Australian troops fought gallantly in the Western Desert, Europe, New Guinea and the jungles of Asia. Australian airmen fought as part of the Royal Air Force. 223 Australian airmen are buried in the British war cemetery in Berlin. The U.S., for example did not enter the war until after Pearl Harbor. Before anybody asks - A division of Brazilian infantry fought on the allied side against the Germans in Italy. They entered the war before the U.S. too.

Yes. Further to the answers given above, they were the main fighting force against the Japanese in the island of New Guinea, the most famous of the battles happening in Kokoda trail where many died not from the fighting but from malaria, dysentry & typhoid.

I know that
my grandfather George(who is not alive anymore) in WW2 had some australian soldiers in his basement in a small village in Greece.Germans were looking for them and my grandfather were trying to hide them. One night he took them and they crossed the mountain Elikonas(the mountain of nine muses according to greek mythology) and they reached Korinthiako bay where some english boats were waiting to take them. So, if australian soldiers were hiding somewhere in central Greece I suppose that Australia was involved.I also have heard about soldiers from Australia who died in Crete fighting side by side with Greek against German.
