Proactive is the opposite of reactive. I see a lot of reactive people on yahoo answers. Reactive behaviour is reacting to the impulse of the ego and each time you resist your ego your tear down a curtain.

Proactive - you stop your reflextive egocentric impulses use your wisdom, practice your critical thinking skills, and by not reacting you have exercised free will and stoped the ego from dominating your life.

Proactive is a word that was invented to show a contrast with the word reactive. A reactive behavior is to let the fire start and then react and try to put it out. A proactive behavior would be trying to anticipate and prevent the fire in the first place...There are many examples: In medicine, first I clog my arteries, then when I get a heart attack I use reactive behavior to try to save my life; a proactive approach would try to prevent the heart attack in the first place by not clogging my arteries with fat.

Proactiv means to be ready and to anticapate changes, events or situations which may occur. For example, if someone knows that they are goin to get fired from their job the PROACTIVE thing to do would be to start looking for another job. The REACTIVE thing to do would be to wait for the event to happen and then respond to it then.

Proactive people use the margin of freedom to make choices that best apply their values.
